Wet Utility Installation

Wet Utility Installation in San Diego

Licensed Plumbing & General Engineering Contractor Serving San Diego County

Wet utilities carry water or wastewater: potable water lines, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems. Installing or replacing them correctly means working across property lines, coordinating with municipalities, and meeting local code at every stage. Sewer Contractor 911 holds both a licensed Plumbing Contractor license and a licensed General Engineering Contractor license, which means we can carry a wet utility installation project from the private property side all the way to the municipal connection, rather than stopping where most single-trade plumbers must hand off.

We serve residential and commercial property owners throughout San Diego County, handling water, sewer, and storm drain systems as part of broader underground infrastructure work.

What Sets Our Wet Utility Work Apart

We bring over 40 years of industry experience to every underground utility project. That depth of knowledge matters when a job involves excavation, connection to live municipal systems, or coordination with City of San Diego inspectors. Our General Engineering Contractor license lets us perform advanced pipework that many competitors aren’t licensed to touch, keeping your project under one contractor from start to finish.

Where the scope calls for it, we use trenchless sewer repair methods to minimize surface disruption and hydro jetting to clear and prepare lines before installation or connection. All qualifying work is backed by our warranty.

Wet Utility Installation Services We Perform

Our scope covers the full range of underground wet utility work for San Diego properties:

  • Sewer line installation and replacement: From initial excavation to final connection, including sewer laterals that tie into the municipal sewer system.
  • Water line installation and repair: Installed at proper depth with appropriate protection for reliable, code-compliant water delivery.
  • Storm drain systems: Installation coordinated with site drainage requirements and local standards.

What a General Engineering Contractor License Covers

In California, a General Engineering Contractor is one whose principal contracting business involves fixed works requiring specialized engineering knowledge and skill. The classification generally covers irrigation, drainage, water supply, sewers, and sewage disposal systems, among other categories. A Class A licensee may self-perform work that falls within the general engineering classification, and holding an additional Plumbing Contractor license allows a contractor to perform work under both scopes on a single project without bringing in a second license holder.

Our General Engineering Contractor license is why we can function as a full-scope underground utility contractor on projects that cross into municipal infrastructure. That classification, combined with our Plumbing Contractor license, means we plan and execute the complete installation rather than handing off the portion that crosses the property line to another contractor.

San Diego Right-of-Way Permits for Utility Work

When wet utility lines extend into the public right-of-way, a Right-of-Way Permit is generally required. The City of San Diego’s Right of Way Management Division coordinates activities in that space between city departments, utilities, developers, and contractors. New construction or underground improvements outside private property lines, including water, sewer, and storm drain connections, typically require this permit before work can proceed.

As a licensed general engineering contractor, we’re qualified to perform excavation and utility work within public right-of-way areas and to coordinate with local municipalities throughout the permitting process. We can handle that coordination as part of the project, so San Diego property owners don’t have to navigate it on their own.

Water Efficiency Options During Installation

A new or replacement wet utility installation is a practical opportunity to improve how a property uses water. During installation, we can integrate high-efficiency fixtures, water-saving system upgrades, and greywater system components where San Diego permitting allows. Building efficiency into the infrastructure at the time of installation can cost less than retrofitting later.
